Government exam updates are one of the largest search categories in India. Millions of people look for vacancies, results and admit cards every single day, and they look for them repeatedly — which makes it a rare niche with both huge volume and natural repeat visits.
1. Decide what you will actually cover
The instinct is to cover everything. Resist it. A site that covers one state board plus two central exams properly will outrank a site that thinly covers forty. Depth is what earns trust, and trust is what earns rankings.
2. Get the hosting right
These sites get traffic in spikes: a result drops and 40,000 people arrive in ten minutes. Shared hosting handles the quiet days fine, but pick a host with decent burst capacity and put a cache layer in front of your pages. If a result day takes your site down, you lose the exact traffic you were building for.
3. Publish before the crowd, not after
Being first matters enormously here. Set up alerts for the official notification pages of every exam you cover, and publish within minutes of a notification appearing. Google rewards the page that satisfied the query first and kept people there.
4. Structure every post the same way
Visitors want the same five things every time: important dates, eligibility, fees, vacancy count and the apply link. Use one consistent template so they can scan it instantly. This also means your pages carry consistent structured data, which is what produces rich results in search.
5. Do not chase AdSense on day one
Get 30 to 50 genuinely useful pages published, make sure your About, Contact and Privacy pages are real, then apply. Applying with eight thin pages is the most common reason for rejection.
6. The mistakes that kill these sites
- Copy-pasting notifications. Duplicate content does not rank. Summarise in your own words and add the table.
- No internal links. Link every result post to the original vacancy post and vice versa.
- Slow pages. Aim for a largest-contentful-paint under 2.5 seconds; on mobile connections that is what separates a bounce from a reader.
- Ignoring the archive. Old exam posts keep earning traffic every year. Update them instead of writing new thin ones.
How long until it works?
Realistically: three to six months of consistent publishing before meaningful organic traffic, and a year before it becomes a dependable income. Anyone promising faster is selling something.
